Who You Already Are
“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”
1 Corinthians 12:27 ESV
Together, we are the church of Christ. Each one of us is gifted with a role to play. It’s easy to become complacent, being encouraged by sermons, fellowship with other believers and feeling
content.
But, now imagine a group of people armed with the knowledge of what they have in Christ and are ready to use the authority that has been given them to change the world around them. That’s what City On A Hill is all about.
Scripture reveals that when you are born again you become a new creation and everything becomes new. Jesus’ finished work at the cross has changed everything. You are eternally forgiven of every sin you ever commit. God sees you now, righteous with His righteousness. This empowers you to overcome sin to walk in love experiencing His grace.
You are joint-heir with Christ, a member of His body revealing your new identity and purpose in Him which is to the glorify the Father. In Ephesians 3:20, the apostle Paul writes that God is able to do far more abundantly more than what we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus.
In Luke 10:19,20, Jesus says He has given us authority to come against all the powers of the enemy.
And in John 14:13-14 Jesus gives us the authority to use His name and He will do it. This is commanding the forces of darkness to become obedient to the authority of the name of Jesus.
Philippians 2:13 states that God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
Jesus gave us the great commission to be ministers of reconciliation where in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
Everyone in the body of Christ are ministers of the gospel. Jesus has equipped you with everything you need to go forward.
