Creativity and Imagination Equal Divine Gifts
The Word of God tells us in Genesis that we are made in the very image of God Himself. That being true, then what lies within each of us is a reflection of that creative image. It’s a reflection that when it is expressed allows our faith and emotions to glorify God and contribute to His vision of beauty in the world. Exodus 31:3 says:
And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills.
Have you ever thought about how you contribute to His vision of beauty in the world? Most people don’t. You may not even think your creative, but you are. Creativity encompasses a very broad spectrum. You are uniquely made and there is only one YOU. What you possess, no one else does to the level you do. So, let’s begin by seeing ourselves the way God sees us, with the gifts and talents that He has given to bless others and glorify Him.
But, there’s more… creativity does not work alone. Imagination plays an important role in the work of creation. It allows us to see beauty in the ordinary and then begin to create something extraordinary. Imagination is a powerful tool when we bring God into our thinking processes. Imagination will take you out of “the box” into a realm of amazing expression and deeper faith.
So, the gift and talents we have been given when expressed can encourage, uplift and inspire others to realize their own gifts and talents and in doing so make a difference in their life. This kind of encouragement and inspiration can lead people to experience God’s presence in their lives in a powerful way.
As we develop as a growing, committed, inspiring, devoted Christian community, our relationships will deepen and we will collaborate and participate and encourage everyone within our community to reflect God’s beauty and richness through their gifts and talents.
Greg Laurie once said, “Your life belongs to God. You don’t share your time and talents with Him; He shares them with you. You need to recognize and acknowledge that fact.”
In closing, a reminder that every person is important to our God. We all have something to contribute and we are all precious in His sight. You could say we are poetry in motion! Ephesians 2:10 says this:
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
I believe His desire is that we walk in the fulness that was purchased for us and in doing so bring glory, honor and praise to His holy name!
